Introducing the Great St Albans Cake Off

Are you loving the Great British Bake Off?  Has it inspired you to hop to it in the kitchen?  Well now’s your chance!

The wonderful Bakehouse team have now launched the Great St Albans Cake Off! Hazah!

They are on a quest to find the best cake makers in St Albans in 3 categories;

*Under 16

*Over 16

*Specialist Baker (e.g gluten free, vegan etc)

The winners in each category will not only receive £100 worth of Steamer Trading vouchers, BUT they will also have their very own, winning recipe, baked and served up in the Bakehouse for the first 4 weeks after the competition.

All the proceeds generated by the sales of the winning cakes will be donated to the charities of the winners’ choosing.

How do you enter?

Head onto the Bakehouse website and complete an application form or pop in store and ask for a form.

All submissions must be made by the 1st October 2012.

Bring in your hopeful cake to the Bakehouse on the 7th October 2012 before 3pm.

Judging will take place between 3pm and 4pm on the very same day and the winners announced on the spot!

The panel will be judging on presentation, taste and creativity.

Amazing. What on earth are you waiting for, register your cake today!

Wooden spoons and mixing bowls at the ready…

….if anyone needs a cake tester in the meantime, then I guess, yes it would be an imposition, but I suppose I could offer this service 😉

Kirstin from the Bakehouse team shared with me where this brilliant idea came from

‘The Cake-Off was really inspired by a number of things…..our love of great food and particularly cakes, unearthing local talent and reaching out to the local community, trying to create a fun and inspiring event that will benefit us all. We hope this becomes an annual event!’
