Style in my City

Fashion, food, lifestyle and culture in St Albans

Food and Drink

St Albans is a great place to live if you love going out to eat and drink. We famously have more pubs per square mile than any other place in the country.

They range from your classic ‘old man’ pub to the more swanky cocktail bar and absolutely everything in between.

Though many, if not all to some degree, serve more wholesome nourishment, we are also spoilt with an abundance of restaurants, coffee shops and plenty of other foodie pit stops to choose from.

We house a great selection of old favourite chain restaurants. Restaurants that are as familiar and comforting as a home cooked meal. Plus, now that the world has gone voucher crazy, you can eat in most of them for half a dusty twiglet found in the bottom of your bag and 1 single magic bean. Bargain.

Some of our independent eateries are impressively good. We have a huge range of international cuisine on offer here in St Albans and for all the real foodies out there, there is plenty to keep you intrigued and satisfied.…And I haven’t even mentioned the Artisan food producers that showcase their wares at our famous Market twice a week.

I’ll be taking a look and sampling the best that St Albans has to offer in food and drink. From the best takeaway secret to the perfect spot for a great night out. It’s a tough job, but I feel like I owe it to all of you, to the city that raised me, to take it on the chin and get down to work.

We’ll also be getting to know our restaurateurs, landlords and resident Food and Drink pros a little more. Who knows, maybe they could give away a sneaky signature cocktail secret or two…

Stay tuned!
